Life becomes easier when the bigger picture of your life and the meaning of the Universe become known to you. You have a guiding vision.

For what purpose have you been born?

This question lies at the core of everyone’s unconscious though not all will ask it consciously of themselves. Often when a client does approach me with such a profound question it is because they have reached a definite crisis or turning point in their life.

At other times it is more veiled and is asked due to lack of direction, confusion or  a feeling  of emptiness with their  life  that cannot be remedied by shuffling the external components -regardless of how happy or unhappy it may seem to others.

So when a client comes to me and states they have lost direction or are unsure of what goals to set  I help them using their birthchart plus some specifically directed questions to gauge where they are on their journey. Truth be told spiritual crisis can occur for anyone at anytime. However it is often preceded by one of the following

• Loss or  bereavement
• Illness
• Redundancy
• A spiritual experience that they are unable to fully understand
• The desire for spiritual growth and /or service  to others
• Promotion and huge success in life
• Winning the lottery or inheriting a vast sum of money
• Loneliness or abandonment by others
• A sense of being called to something greater than who they are right now.

Everyone has their own catalyst that makes them ask who they truly are, who or what  is directing their life and where their life is ultimately going!

These are big questions. That is true and yet we  are all unconsciously seeking them anyway. Usually the search is external until it becomes apparent that external “stuff” won’t accommodate the yearning for true spiritual knowledge or self  knowledge as I call it!

Life purpose encompasses all that a person achieves in a lifetime and may not be completely understood at any one time. However there is often a sense that something very powerful within is directing one’s life and it is important to get in touch with this inner director rather than ignore it. This search for meaning may be due to extreme pain as Kahlil Gibran states:

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding

A crisis like this is also an opportunity and it may be that your Soul is showing you a new direction!  By seeing the crisis in this way it transforms into an opportunity for growth and self understanding that may take you along new pathways which are far more fulfilling than what you left behind!

Carl Jung once wrote that finding meaning in one’s life can make what is intolerable more bearable. No better example of this can be found than in Victor Frankl’s book “Man’s search for meaning” In this book Frankl describes how he survived the concentration camps in Nazi Germany and how the vision he had one day when at his lowest ebb showed him a glimpse of his life purpose and gave him the ability to endure continued hardship.  This vision showed him he had to survive so that he could tell the world what had happened and in doing so help to prevent its recurrence.

This example is extreme of course, but at this time of great transition many are being asked or asking themselves bigger questions!  Feeling low or sensing a lack of meaning or purpose in your life may indicate you are at an important crossroads.

Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual

Some people may claim to  know their  life purpose but I would counter that by saying-you can never fully know it. It unfolds in divine right timing and that is why knowing your true identity is intrinsic in fulfilling your highest potential. So often the upper level problem of achieving success and fulfilment in all areas of life is determined by how much you are in touch with your true self and living congruently!

To believe you know everything is both foolhardy and self- limiting. Far better to be open and discover more about who you truly are!
